Practical Paranoia
To recap my own experience:

I wore a pager for 10 years, always on the right hip. Once day I pass a kidney stone (THE most painful thing that can ever happen to anyone). In the ensuing investigation, the doctor finds ... nothing! No more stones in EITHER kidney. Just the one (right) kidney, this one time.

Sounds kinda fishy to me! Ben Franklin suffered from these things all the time - you never just get one. Was it the 10 years of pager sitting 4 inches away from the kidney the culprit? How could you ever prove it?

Now as age takes its toll, I have developed colitis on my left side. The gastro doctor says that these things can turn into cancer.

Enter the wife and DEMANDS for me to wear a cell phone "in case of emergency". The electronic leash that every man (eventually) must endure. Here's my question: Do I wear the cell phone on my right or left side? If I wear it on my left side (2 inches from my colitis), and I develop cancer - will the cell phone's role in this be understood, or poo-pooed? The doctor tells me its safe . . .
