Rosso's strategy looks like a losing one to me.

"The Pirate Bay has turned over a legitimate new leaf, so it has to be above board from the first day."
This will result in the rapid defection of those who don't want to pay ... after which the business volume for the rights owners will be insufficient to warrant a serious venture.

"We hope to introduce a new BitTorrent technology that will optimize ISP traffic. We can save ISPs up to 80 percent of their resources. Half of the Internet traffic is file sharing and half of that traffic is Pirate Bay."
(Un)fortunatley it is likely that the algorithm for this new technology will itself be cracked and released for free.

GGF and Rosso should have lined up their ducks before purchasing TPB. The sort of alliance which I can see working is similar to the lock-in tactics used by Apple for iTunes and the iPhone:

- rights holders(film and music studios providing the content)

- hosters/advertisers(say Google hosting the service, doing the web interface and associated advertising)

- carriers (ISPs moving the data)

... but it would have to be DRM-free and 'all you can eat' at an attractive rate: a multi-channel subscription like cable or satellite TV.

Looks like GGF has only 'hopes to introduce' but no buy in from any party: a very risky venture - I think they will simply lose all their money.
