- No, there are other costs with that job
-
so it's a draw, and they didn't give me the job... I had to earn it, like everything else in life. I had to pass the ASVAB with a score high enough to get the job I got, I had to pass the physical requirements, the drug screening, the psychological evaluation and of course... boot camp. They gave me an opportunity to either succeed or fail at getting the job. Just like any other employer out there. I still had to work for it and earn the right to work for the military.
There is a massive difference to giving someone a chance, an opportunity to succeed than just giving them benefits and pay for nothing. Essentially what is being proposed is taking from those that have earned their way and giving it to those that have not. Wrong solution, right solution is giving opportunity to those that are in need and not punishing and forcing those that have already succeed (higher taxes and such) and taking their hard earned money and giving it away.
You want to solve the problems the first step is to absolve the IRS and institute a flat tax of 10-15% across the board. No write offs, no loop holes just a flat 10-15% federal tax that is FAIR and equitable for all income levels. Next step is to kill the power many corporations have and roll them back to their original charter. This removes special interest groups from lobbying the Senate and Congress which again skews political power for those that can afford it. This also levels the playing field and puts the power of the government back into the peoples hands.
These are some of the solutions Ron Paul has in mind. But no, the Democrats and some Republicans would rather penalize those that are successful so that those that haven't either made the effort or refuse to make an effort or are not even legal citizens will reap the benefit. That is counter intuitive to a free nation where you or anyone can aspire to be or do whatever your heart calls for.
Socialism and social programs cost money, it's not fair to those that have put an effort into making a better life for themselves to support those that haven't or won't. Your social programs breed apathy and laziness. There is no incentive to succeed or even make an effort to change. Why should they? After all, uncle sammy will pay for everything!
Now before you decided to toss my military service and what I earned while in that service back at me, understand that I was putting my life up as collateral for the job. What are you or any other socialist minded individual willing to put on the line for a better life? What are you willing to sacrifice to move yourself out of your lot in life.
I know a lot of people that had it worse than I and using the same methods of busting their arse and applying themselves they moved from being dirt poor to having a decent life and providing for their children as well.
As for you being done with this conversation, that's because you are fighting an untenable fight. Keep in mind that Obama will renege on many of his promises once in office, it's the way of the Democrat and Republican parties. When you look at actual performance in the job, Ron Paul is one of a very few people that actually has performed honorably and with integrity. He has also been consistent in his voting and where he stands on a variety of issues. That's something that Obama cannot say either. His voting and stance on gun control for instance is completely out of line with his campaign rhetoric, and that's just one item. Go ahead run away, just like your candidate did when Ron Paul challenge him to a debate.
Ron Paul is a libertarian conservative who believes in minimal government. He votes according to what he believes are the legislative guidelines provided by the U.S. Constitution. He believes that most modern law-making is unconstitutional and the United States should not participate in foreign wars, except when under direct attack.
Last While not anything of real value it does bring up many of the items I have been on about in this exchange with you. The first digg
"First let us compare what we know of the policies each of the candidates will adopt. We can use .pdfs of Obama's 64 page Blueprint For Change, and Ron Paul's 496 page book "Pillars of Prosperity""
is spot on what I was talking about when I said Obama has not provided anything more than a promise for change, no road map, and what little he does have is not a change for the better! So go ahead and quit... that's what Socialists do, they quit and expect someone else to do the work for them.
