More platitudes about how big government takes money from the rich and gives it to the poor, and how unfair it is to hard-working Americans like yourself that never had any help to establish the quality of life you have.
You are naive, selfish and predictable.
You may not like it but Ron Paul IS a member of the Republican party, whether or not he sold his Libertarian soul to gain some foothold in the election process is neither here nor there to me. Maybe he should have spent less time pontificating and paying lip-service to his narrow and simplistic view of how this country works, and instead spent more time building his party.
Your Utopian idea of this free-market capitalist society where you owe nothing to anyone fell flat on its face in 1929, period. It was a Democrat that had the foresight and wisdom to guide this country out of that mess coupled with massive government spending during WW-II.
And here we are again.
Your instinct and the filter of your political bias, is to blame everything on a Democrat, although countless economic and mathematical minds have agreed that the financial markets are completely unpredictable. So maybe YOU should educate yourself more to that effect, but I also understand your biological need to make sense of the randomness of the world and if a simpleton like yourself needs the reassurance of one, apparently unequivocal, catalyst, that set forth all these events, then so be it.
Don't tell me you were not immersed in specific circumstances that led you to the path you chose because you insult the people that paid for the infrastructure and the "public" servants that actually gave a damn when they didn't have to, to get you there. I am sure this is a rational conclusion to which you arrived after carefully considering what it might be like for some kid to grow up in an urban slum, no father, mother addicted to crack and peers that are gangbangers, how that is his fault, and precisely how he could rise above that with no help from anyone, JUST LIKE YOU!
You forget that we have a social contract by which we all must abide, if you don't like it then change it or go live on an island with Nader er.. Paul somewhere.
Hey I've got another idea for you, build that Libertarian party to something substantial. Get down off of your soapbox and pound the pavement like we did for Barack this year, after all, you have 8 years to do it. - Posted by: granthamicus@...
