- Broadband also had to be fairly priced..
-
There is extreme variances in the pricing of broadband among carriers of similiar technologies. Take cable for example, in the Salisbury, MD market; Comcast HSI only will cost you $60 a month for the mid-level tier (8Mbps down/2Mbps up). Cox communications in the South Eastern Hampton roads market is $39.99.
I venture the price in the more urban area is more competitive because of competition, but its because Comcast is allowed to gouge the customers (and give a poor experience to boot) screw us all in the end.
Fair pricing across all markets would allow greater adoption and innovation. Some would argue that the rural area (Salibury, MD market) is more expensive to run cable and maintain, but isnt that why we all pay into the USF? That is supposed to subsidize the cost of this. Nothing short of corporate greed is whats killing the internet and broadband adoption in this country. Mr. Martin was trying to change that (albiet his frowned upon management style), but no the lobbiest won and cable/dsl still gets to keep their sky high pricing. - Posted by: JT82 Posted on: 12/11/08 (Edited: 12/11/2008 @ 09:47) You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
