It's not a misdemeanor for an adult to torment a teenager to the point of suicide, it's manslaughter. This woman killed a child.

Whatever is going on in the criminally insane mind of Lori Drew, I think it's reasonable to assume she did not plan a murder, but she behaved in a way that threatens individuals in our society who have the right to be protected by that society.

Laws and punishment are meant to protect, to rehabilitate and to prevent further unlawful behavior. This woman killed a child. Let the punishment fit the crime.
