Ask any lawyer
Ultimate question: Now that three formal appeals have been filed, is the Joint Technical Committee going to take them seriously?

Well, we can start by asking "what happens if they don't?" We can look in the Directives for answers there, for instance with regard to what happens if a BRM violates the Directives governing such meetings.

Hmmm ... nothing. There is no consequence specified in the case where a TC doesn't follow the directives. The answer to "what happens if they don't?" appears to be "nothing."

However, maybe JTC1 may be in the mood come next meeting. Or not.

Not OOXML  Qbt | 05/30/08
OOXML is only to create confusion and interoperability problems, nothting  DonnieBoy | 05/30/08
I guess you are...  Qbt | 05/30/08
MS may think we are all very stupid, but, they did not have much reason to  DonnieBoy | 05/30/08

While you are down the river without a paddle  Ole Man | 05/31/08
This goes to show how bad the OOXML standard is. Normally countries rejoice  DonnieBoy | 05/30/08
Not really. If you factor in the truth  Pliny the Elder | 05/30/08
So, good interoperability would "force MS out". If MS has the best  DonnieBoy | 05/31/08

These countries must have received a lot of "aid" from ODF supporters..  transposeIT | 05/30/08
So, why was there no problem with ODF? Why was ODF unanamous? Why was there  DonnieBoy | 05/30/08
Why?  Qbt | 05/30/08
Again, this has nothing to do with open source. Open standards and open  DonnieBoy | 05/30/08
