This whole Muni WiFi thing was hyped beyond belief because many people thought they could "get something for nothing". As I mentioned in previous talkbacks, someone has to pay for all the expenses that go with running a network-- and there are plenty.
Cities cannot even provide the services they are supposed to provide (Police/Fire/Emergency) in a cost effective way. Do you really think they will be able to build a quality network that turns a profit?
