... for one simple reason. AT&T PERMITTED the NSA to mine data using AT&T resources WITHOUT a properly executed search warrant!
As soon as AT&T let the government in the door without a search warrant of any kind (issued by any court, including the FISA court), they became co-conspirators in violating the Constitution of the United States. This needs to come before the Supreme Court -- and similar charges should be brought against any company who shares personal information with the government without a search warrant!
