Having aidied in arrest, Yahoo now criticizes China for jailing journalist

Yahoo does have an out: They can shut down their operations in mainland China and give up all that money. If they say why they're doing it, they might even shame the competition into following suit, which would annoy the Comrades in Beijing no end, but there would be absolutely nothing they could do about it.
