Still waiting for broadband
That's what my son-in-law said he'd put on my tombstone. I live in rural Tennessee and have no illusions that I'm going to see the day when I get high speed Internet access any time soon. I have missed out on jobs and sleep because all that's available to me are dialup and satellite. The dialup is cheap but slow. The satellite is out of my reach, budget-wise, and, from what I have gathered, unreliable and still not too speedy. I'm not that far from retirement and I want to be able to do something besides wait around for page loads in the meantime. I think it's criminal that the outlying areas of Tennessee are ignored when it comes to something faster than 56k. I thought that, surely, when BellSouth, AT&T, and Cingular merged that something would be done but it's still up to Charter Cable to provide broadband and they are still miles from my house. Whenever I ask, I'm always told that "it can't be long". That's what I've been hearing for years so why should I believe it now??
