Pandemics
I would have thought that in a raging pandemic, isolation of people would be one useful counter-measure -- the history of the Black Death in England has an example of this, where a village isolated itself -- and with modern technology for home working this should be easier for office workers and anyone else who doesn't physically move materials. For others, it should be possible to develop safety protocols for most types of workplace to minimise or eliminate person-to-person infection.
Possibly a good time for makers of protective masks and suits.
