- in Alberta, Canada the Provincial Gov't has instituted a system of Disposal Fees applied to all electronics sold in the Province. For computers, fees range from $5.00 for laptops to $12.00 for monitors. The fees are collected by the Province to finance and encourage recycling and reprocessing initiatives from private enterprises. There is currently a German firm setting up a plant to extract valuable elements from PC's , etc and recycle plastics ,etc.
