Sony anti-piracy software
I purchased two Sony manufactured CD's from Target. One was from Gretchen Wilson, the other, I can't remember right now. My biggest issue was with the two sided CD. One side had the artist's music videos, the other their album. I thought that was pretty cool, since the price of the product wasn't any higher than usual. But when I put my Gretchen Wilson CD into my CD player on my computer, it sounded horrible! It was like someone had scratched it with a needle! So I took it back to Target, got another copy, same thing! I was so frustrated that I actually called the Sony corporation at 11pm CST and a lady answered the phone. I told her I was surprised to have a person answer, I was expecting an answering service so I could leave a message.

Well, she said she would let Sony know about my issue with the Gretchen CD, told her I appreciated it, and she let me know that Sony would have someone get in touch with me. Three months later, and after being so busy forgetting about the incident, I get a package in the mail from Sony. They had instructions on how to fix the problem, like it was MY computer with the problem!

I hate piracy just like the big guys, it's not fair to the artists who work so hard to give us great music to enjoy and have it ripped off. That's like working for free! But I also like the option of the MP3 format to burn up to 13 CD's onto one CD-R so I don't have to have SO many CD's in my car to listen to. I purchased an Alpine MP3/WMA compatible unit for my car just for that purpose. Accidents happen enough in this country with the onset of cellphone use while driving and now the new navigational systems, that changing a CD can be just as dangerous if you are trying to fish through a whole book of them in a travel case to find the one you want.

Plus I like to re-mix mine to my taste. Not EVERY song an artist releases is to my taste, but if I like the majority of the CD, I will include it on my CD-R. It makes long trips more enjoyable and hassle free. I just wish big corporations would listen to the "Real" world and how us consumers feel about their products, instead of trying to go by their so-called "research" departments. Maybe if they put out a survey or two, they could get some real answers.
