The evidence is damning
I remember early reports claiming that FirstEnergy claimed their network operations weren't connected to the public internet. They were cordoned off and couldn't have been infected. But later reports made out that like so many corporations backdoors abound. And usually it's through an informal remote access point (sometimes even a VPN). Which if this is true means, exactly the opposite of what they first claimed. Even with a VPN, their network was connected to the public internet. And if one infected computer logged in through VPN,... Voila, you have exposed your secure private network to the ravages of a virulent Internet worm. For FirstEnergy to go out of its way to cast doubts on ANY involvement of the Blaster worm is suspicious and only makes it seem more likely Blaster had some role.
