Frickin' swap meet
When I was a buter for the last company that I worked for I used to go to Comdex to meet prospective vendors. However, the last time I went (about three years ago) while I was starting to talk to one of these prospects, this end user walks up and asks if they have any free stuff. So this guy says "sure" and goes and grabs a mouse pad for the guy and the start talking and he totally ignored me. I walked off fuming. Needless to say I never did use that vendor. And I also reported back to my CEO the story and told him that I felt Comdex has become a total waste of the company time and money. After I left that company and went to my next job as a senior buyer, the choice on us going to Comdex was mine. I simply did not go and that's where I currently stand. Sure, the time that I got to spend at Vegas with the parties and such was fun, but come on. Let's get back to what Comdex was originally for.
