Opinion is dictated by cost
The last sentence in John's post pretty much says it all. With economies in third world countries heating up and the ability to market one's skills across the world becoming a reality, I am very excited about the new frontiers opening up. Also, with all this new trade it will be more difficult than ever for war to be justified with guns and grenades as any man with a family and 20 extra pounds of body fat from eating fast food won't find an excuse to put on a bomb-vest.

Unfortunately, growth is painful. Some people have lost their jobs because of outsourcing and offshoring. As the old saying goes, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. And for those people who have lost their jobs to a person in India, they are going to write their congressman and cast their vote. It's difficult to get someone to agree with all the good things going on when they are at the unemployement office.

In their minds, they see nothing but cost so all this stuff must be bad.
