I view the situation completely different than you do.

I view that people have gotten tired of buying albums with 1 or 2 good songs. Piracy formed because the RIAA was slow to release their songs in digital format as singles.

People are willing to buy songs. All you have to do is look at the success of iTunes to see that. People are not willing to throw away their money on things they don't like (90% of a music CD).

Album sells are history. Customers want to purchase only quality music. There will have to be more quality music to increase sales.

I believe that music will actually start to improve in quality in a few years. That or watch sales decline as customers find better entertainment options to spend their hard earned cash on.
