Anything that kills BD Plus is great, but
I'll be passing on the technology for a long while yet. At this price point, many won't and the nastygram of BD Plus that is part of the DRM "Copy Protection" mechanism of Blu_Ray will die as it should.

I won't, however, let the movie mafia downgrade my signal (I use my HDMI for my DVR, so component is the only available) and require firmware updates continually (through movies or is that elusive internet connection going to be mandatory?)

I'll wait until the they try, then fail and corrupt a few million machines, cause huge market frustration and then concede, yet again, that DRM is a fool's errand, give up, and just make it like it has been. People may state that the broadcast flag is not in use now, and that is true, but they will play nice until penetration levels reach the point where they can turn it on. Name one DRM technology that was "optional" to the content providers that isn't tried.

The final irony, license costs and the likely $200+ just in DRM implementation costs may well be the reason Blu-Ray dies. Reminds on of Beta, Walkman, minidisk, and a whole host of technologies that Sony introduced.
