Because Sony and Nintendo are to STUPID to launch such a service themselves, the only way they will know to compete with this new service from Microsoft is through litigation.

"Look at how Redmond is extending its monopoly!"

"Surely we can't allow Microsoft to rule them all, find them all, and in the darkness bind them all! We should be doing that! This is our turf!"

I can hear the losers now.
