Screw the bio-enhancements, I want to see robot armies squaring off against one another.

Still, the question is one of where you draw the line. Players in days of yore didn't have access to proper nutrition, vitamins and exercise routines that we now have. Should these things be banned? Of course not, but it does point out that times change, and in some ways, you're always going to have to draw something of an arbritrary line as to what's allowed and what's not.

---Therefore, they use them in smaller quantities than they otherwise would, and work very hard to keep the physical side effects of these substances hidden.---

Actually, the problem is more that the chemistry has stayed ahead of the rules. Once a substance is banned and tested for, there are myriad new substances with the same effects that can be substituted, which don't show up on the tests. Kind of like trying to create an effective DRM system--those willing to break the rules will always be one step ahead of you.

One correction though:
---Barry Bonds, the baseball slugger who recently surpassed Babe Ruth's home run average---

Bonds surpassed Ruth's lifetime home run total, not his average.
