Mechanisms of Action
So a Public office should exist with a mission to monitor
corporate transgressions. It has even been said that Microsoft
went a little to far with recent moves back towards coercive
licensing. It seems they needed to be put back in place. So much
for self policing. So lets first admit this mechanism of action
must be in place. Perhaps this public office's powers are too
broad? Can we not also agree that this office requires the power
to find fact, interpret law, and respond to a mobile market? It
must have investigation and discovery as part of it's agenda. It
has to find creative solutions. Antitrust is complex and this
requires more than a cop with a radar gun.

At the end of the day, in it's current state, antitrust is working.
The much beloved platform/ecosystem is broadening. It has
become more inclusive more competitive, and more innovative.
It also becomes more stable as investment is diverted to more
than one payroll. Different players have a different role to play.

Technology responds to this "health" with performance.
Virtualization and web services are strengths not disruptions. If
a lions share of code developent and it's revenue should accrue
to a single vendor, technology becomes hopelessly myopic. It
won't matter if the intentions are good, it won't matter if the
R&D is good either. It will simply not be responsive to our
culture. Do you think this may be what we are seeing?

Maybe this is a bias. I'm ok with that. I think if you show me a
man without bias, I'll show you a man 6 days dead. The first five
days he retains them.
