But Apple promised I wouldn't have to hunt for drivers
Apple lied again?

You shouldn?t have to waste your time trying to banish a nasty error message from your screen.

Sounds great! So what happened here: It came with an older OS X driver that badly crashed our system.

But David, Apple says that this shouldn't happen. In fact, avoiding driver issues is why OSX and Mac are worth paying 2X what you would have to pay for a Windows PC. When you control the hardware and the OS, you get to banish nasty error messages from your screen. You must have screwed up David.

Again from Apple:
And you shouldn?t have to go off on a scavenger hunt, searching doggedly for device drivers, so that your computer can see and get along with that shiny new peripheral.

Excellent! I hate going on scavenger hunts for drivers. I usually just try 50-100 random urls before finally entering the peripheral maker's url in order to download my Windows drivers but that takes a lot of time. So what happened here: Yesterday, the company released a beta driver for OS X 10.4.9

Unless you are willing to tell me that the newly released driver just magically installed itself with no action on your part (YIKES!!!!), you probably had to download it from Dual System's site. You must have done something wrong David because Apple clearly states that you shouldn't have to do this.

Hmm... unless Apple is lying?

Yep! That didn't fit in with Apple's "It Just Works!"  Grayson Peddie | 06/03/07
