Just as a reference,

- Your Uninstaller does a good job removing software, including both files and registry entries, even when you receive a Cannot read Install.log error

- Avast! by Alwil and AVG are free anti-viruses for home use. Avast! at least has entirely automatic updates. And both will be easier on your system than Norton and McAfee AV's.
