The irony of Ziff and benchmarking
It is ironic that there is a Ziff column on chip benchmarking. Years ago, we had the Microprocessor Report that acurately benchmarked chips and their performance. They even did a study that showed for most uses a lower end chip with good peripherals was a good as the faster more expensive processor chips.

Intel went balistic when that was published, so went to the new owner of the Microprocessor Report and demanded they stop such heresy, and Ziff Davis complied. That ended the quality benchmarking in the industry.

So David if you want to complain about this to the right people, go find a mirror.
