- IAANM, AMD said at the outset of the ATI acquisition that they were not ditching the ATI brand name, at least short term. And this makes sense: a large bit of the customer awareness is by that brand. People know that for high-end graphics, there are two main names, ATI and NVidia. AMD is smart to not mess with the naming/brand until it at least has a chance to integrate the new "business unit" into its overall operations.
