Mac still has one good advantage
Mac OS X does one thing well and that is the way they handle default user permissions. Default users never run in root (admin) mode and that makes it harder to infect a Mac. Windows will not catch up in this regard until Vista.

From an exploit standpoint, Mac has a LOT more vulnerabilities than Windows so Thompson is very wrong on that point.
