AdAware & MS Antispyware beta
I've used both and found the free version of AdAware pretty ineffective, in that it usually only detects tracking cookies. MS Antispyware beta seems to have gone the exact opposite direction, being so suspicious of items that it routinely labels my remote control software that I use to admin Win servers as spyware, and blocked portions of a document management system (Hummingbird's DM) because it saw the DM install placing its menu entries within Explorer's menues. It even described it with a specific name - something like ITPro Toolbar, which threw me initially.
