Noone likes ads. But as a software vendor trying to promote a product, what kind of marketing mechanism should I use that will not be perceived as annoying? We give away free software as a start, that helps. But everyone is saturated through all the traditional mechanisms. Tivo is killing TV advertising even more than the remote control before it. Ask yourself how you would promote your company if you were the CEO, in a way that would work, provide jobs and help the prospects out there that desperately NEED your help but don't know you exist? Telemarketing? Magazine ads? Online ads?, TV Radio? what would you prefer?

THe reality is that the best bang for the buck always comes through nontraditional mechanisms like the one described in this article...
