Had previously seen stats on market share for individual countries, showing greater and lesser dominance of Google.

Why do I care? Simply because I have noticed a tendency for some radio broadcasters to use 'google it' where 'search for it' would be a non-specific way to describe internet searching.

I point out to them that they are giving Google free advertising, and I am pleased to say that most have taken on board my comments and have adjusted their usage, and where an individual has still said they 'googled it' someone else has often piped up with 'other search engines are available' because they appreciate the need for balance, and possible advertising (on commercial stations).

FWIW, I use MetaCrawler.com which is run by InfoSearch (many thanks guys, clean front page, no ads pushed in my face) which pulls in results from several search engines. I mention this to those I contact, just so they are reminded to consider other search tools exist.
