You're assuming we'll all have GOOD jobs and can pay for basic necessities.
6 years ago, statistics looked promising for PC support (never mind the rest of the IT industry) too and what it said would be the case for 2006 was faaaaaaaaaaaaar more optimistic than what's happening in this sad reality.

Or are we going to go without heat, gasoline, or food but think "At least I got my video wireless, woo-hoo!"

Either way, I won't be. A standard audio-only cell phone is more than sufficient.

Assuming peak oil devestates the economy or we're engaged in a world war to collect the oi before China, Russia, or Europe can get their hands on it...?
