Except you left out...

the part where he says big companies like MS are the main targets of patent trolls, and that much of the patenting by these large companies is a defense mechanism for this. This is something I've argued for years.

It's really clear what agenda is trying to be pushed with the "selective" quoting in this artcle. To be fair, other articles on this subject on zdnet have posted the true essence of Torvald's words - maybe there's a research project to see if propaganda draws more hits than journalism.
