I could see how the holes could get clogged. My case is open on the bottom to allow for easy charging/syncing, and I sometimes notice some schmutz in the speakers.

But there is no way I'd risk shorting out my GD iPhone with a paper clip! You're just asking for trouble there.

Usually, just blowing in the holes takes care of most of the buildup. If they're really clogged, I'd spray some compressed air in there. Or if you really want to "Stab It! Yea!", then use a thin piece of _plastic_.
