I disagree...

"I?ve shopped at Wal-Mart most of my life, and think that by and large, Wal-Mart is a positive force in our society."

I haven't shopped in a Wal-Mart in years. The overall quality of many of their goods are sub-par, selection is relegated to cheap (as in poor construction). Also there is plenty of documentation of Wal-Marts neglect of:

1. Employee's - But who cares, right? After all the people working there barely have a high school education for the most part.

2. Environmental - Wal-Mart along with many other major corporations, have been a hazard to our environment, storing chemicals in areas that drain to the ocean or water sources for consumption.

3. Local business - they have driven many a small store owner out of business. This isn't hearsay this is documented.

4. Lowering of standards - In almost every area where a Wal-Mart has landed the living standards have dropped. Again this isn't hearsay, look around.

Bottom line they are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
