But OCS is one sweet product. There has been a perhaps better than expected uptake on Office 2007 despite Vista, and that could help drive sales of OCS better than some expect. I'm not sure what is meant about the "skepticism of Microsoft". I don't think any Windows shop has a lot of skepticism. Their products deliver on what they say they will deliver on, what more can you ask for, and this whole bit about it being too expensive..i've yet to see anyone do a long term comparison of other solutions against Microsoft. Take the Google Apps vs. MOSS comparison. All I've heard is that 50 bucks a seat sounds a lot cheaper than Microsoft. But did they mention that is per year, not just a one time fee?? And did they mention the massive infrastructure dollars needed to get your web apps fast enough to even be a reasonable solution? And what about that additional internet cost? Think existing internet throughput at most sites is ready for web based apps? Well, i've got a secret for ya, extend that price out over 5 or 6 years. The average lifespan of any Microsoft product (generally speaking), or longer, and see which column totals higher in the end. Then, on top of that, compare functionality, compare worker productivity enhancement, compare the ability to do real time analytics to every employee so they can make the best decision every time. Add all of that in as ROI, and take that away from cost and then try to sell me on 50 bucks bucks a seat per year.

This is no different than anything of this magnitude. It will appeal to those updating their systems or outright replacing them already. I think the product will speak for itself (literally) and gain some momentum within a year.
