Why should TiVo care?
You miss the point. Why should TiVo care what NBC wants? As long as TiVo is within their legal rights (and clearly, the recording of tv shows into a transferable format falls within those rights), then it doesn't really matter what NBC wants. What exactly do you propose that NBC could sue TiVo for?

Why should electronics manufacturers have to bow down, have to cripple their products, have to disappoint and frustrate their customers, just to make the media companies happy? The electronics industry is a much bigger, much more profitable industry than the content industry. Why is the little dog bossing around the big dog?

Isn't it about time an electronics company stood up to the media bullies? Good for TiVo, and better yet, Neuros. Take a look at this new device that doesn't restrict and frustrate consumers the way media companies would like:
