Macromedia Breeze 5
While we are encouraged by the advances that Macromedia has made in their Breeze product, in my opinion there is still one major problem with adopting Breeze as a corporate communication & collaboration platform. In order for it to be truly useful, we need Macromedia to offer a Multicast option for the streaming video component. (Using a different product, we send live streaming video and other content to over 16,000 employees at their desks in real-time.) Macromedia?s current Unicast model for their streaming video limits the number of simultaneous viewers that the network will support without overloading. While Breeze looks very well suited to small-group usage, it does not fill the need for "all hands meetings" and other large audience formats. If Macromedia were to offer the option to use bandwidth-friendly Multicast streaming for use within our corporate intranet, that could tip the balance for us to seriously consider the adoption of Breeze as a viable option to replace our current collection of separate communication & collaboration tools.
