Data Governance
As you cross organizational boundaries, you have to handle more than just policies and contracts to ensure that service providers and consumers are happy (Enterprise SOA Governance).

In most cases you even have organizational boundaries within your IT organization and you should institute appropriate governance of service production and deployment (SOA Lifecycle Governance).

But as it happens, there are many artifacts and systems that require sensitivity--as coupled organizations move forward. You could think of data, process, organization, events and the governance of all of these elements as part of the management of impact and dependency across organizational boundaries.

The organizational boundaries are key because if it's just system integration it's just data integration, application integration etc.

The tribalism aspect is all covered in my book miko.com/book if you're interested, but my book does not go as deeply into Data Governance as this one does, apparently...

Best,
Miko
