Not very good advice

Not very good advice. It's going to be harder? Huh? Has he used his own product?

Do you know how many projects start with - "It will only be used by these two systems". This kind of advice is what got enterprises in the mess they are in. Point to point integration is almost never justified. It simply takes to little effort to abstract them away, why would you not?
