I agree, there shouldn't be multiple mechanisms. There should be just one--and it shouldn't be "SOA governance."

Ignoring for the moment my objections to the popped-up-overnight word of "governance" (was management really so bad?) there is simply governance. There is more to the landscape than SO--I may be wrong but I sincerely doubt that everything to be managed will be SO someday. Although I'm sure IBM will spin CICS to SO in some fashion, if they don't already. happy

There will be some aspects of a governance programme that address SO-specific items but much will not have anything to do with SO principles.

Just as a BA, EA or other architecture definition incorporates more than just SO principles, so too must a governance programme.

We really need to stop thinking that the SOA term covers everything. It doesn't and never will.
