- SOA in a box that delivers for business
-
Joe
To argue against SOA is like arguing against motherhood and apple pie of course it is desirable but what is the cost benefit. If there is one clear need in business and you touch on it it is IT supporting "business agility" But I was puzzled at being an ?amorphous area?. Not sure about business desire for change requirements being shapeless, undefined or vague. IT?s ability to deliver yes amorphous sounds about right. Sounds like the divide between business and IT is still alive and flourishing for some?
Just for a pleasant moment forget about all you know about IT and think of the ideal scenario where Business Technology supports change as the business changes. Where such technology becomes the enabler to help people deliver on their outputs in a dynamic environment. Then recognise this not about the static accounting records where $bns have been invested it is where people work together in relatively small teams where business agility is a must have. By thinking SOA in a box within a data centric environment it is possible to envisage the supporting work tasks (human and system completed) as services being orchestrated in a predefined manner to deliver a working application. Code these task types once and allow configurability to readily customise. Use a declarative technique just as Bill Gates visioned 10 years after first pioneered and you have true ?business agility? that is defined and specific.
Now that sounds like a reason to be bullish ? if you are a customer ?..
