Ba-dah-DUM!!
Said it two years ago: SOA is OVERHYPED. Just buzzwords and "new thing" to sell consultancy hours. Reality is there are many ways to make systems talk to each other, and SOAP is just over-complicated. So-called REST services are nothing special -- just a return to plain HTTP with a defined set of parameters to invoke a particular function and send it data to work on. People should just IGNORE these talking heads and "industry leaders" and go with what works for them -- we could have been at REST several years ago, but for the consultancy-driven detour into SOAP.
