SOA may also be nonsense like Knowledge Management
I have heard of SOA after it became extensively publicized. Many of the articles I read failed to bring out any distinct and valuable core concept of SOA. One expert (V V Ramana Rao) agreed that there is ?No Architecture? about SOA but it is only an approach at best with some use.

Gartner?s definition of ?Style? is very basic in any systematic and efficient approach. It exists in systems thinking and OOA and does not need SOA exclusively for attribution. A bit of analysis reveals that SOA is a special case of OOAD, where each Service is a Class having a Single Operation without its own attributes or data to operate on. That simplicity may have its elegance and appeal but there is nothing new or unique about SOA.

It is surprising how some terms / phrases gain publicity and popularity though they are shallow. Another such phrase is ?Knowledge Management? which was thoroughly analyzed by Thomas D Wilson in his article ?The Nonsense of Knowledge Management?. SOA may not need another scholarly analysis to show what it really is.
