RE: Who should lead SOA? Enterprise architects or business analysts?
"Collaboration", "We all play a role", "yada yada yada". When the SOA initatives start to fail, we need to point the finger somewhere right? Do we point it at the Program/Project Office and their managers because we were over-budget or missed our schedule? Do we point the finger at the Business Analysts because the models were wrong or the mapping of data was incorrect or the test cases were to vague? Lets not kid ourselves, no matter how much we state "No finger pointing..." the finger always gets pointed at someone and that is usually the 'LEAD' and who should lead SOA. The A in SOA should clearly answer that...ARCHITECTURE should lead SOA and get support and collaboration and subject matter expertise from the PMs, BAs, Executive sponsors and all around people entitled with that responsbility. When the SOA hits the fan, the Enterprise Architect should lead it. Its not called Services Oriented Business Analysis.
