Old school comp sci curriculums out of date
There's something to be said for knowing what a Turing
machine is... but the odds that you'll ever truly need to
know are slim to none. Therein lies the dilemma with old
school computer science curriculums - relevance. Now I
have nothing wrong with a good education and the most
likely reason companies still ask for them (even when they
perhaps shouldn't) is to filter candidates. That's fine but
there needs to be alternatives.

I have a comp sci degree and if I had to do it all over
again, knowing what I know now, I would probably have
gotten a finance degree.
