Just as a point of record, I'm not saying an ESB has no place in a SOA, because, frankly, that's not my place. I just meant I see Mr. Linthicum's point about the merits of ripping and replacing - so, my remark is actually kinda about a second, tangential argument Mr. Linthicum was making.
Also, I guess the kudzu remark was a bit harsh, after seeing it rephrased. I do have something of an obsession with kudzu that predates even ESBs.
