Custom code solutions...
It's great you can see the code, but for companies I disagree that is a "value".

What SMB has the resources to comb through thousands of lines of code to assure reliability and security? Even if they do manage to find a bug, are they going to fork that library in house? So now they have libraries that are different from the rest of the world- what happens with dependencies? You've got a real mess pretty quickly.

Most companies I know, especially SMBs, are trying to get away from custom coding applications altogether. Even in a world where you can't see the source code and have only one set of libraries to work from, custom solutions get expensive quick.

And what's the return? A composite app or commerical software can usually fit the bill for business applications.
