Motorola must have decided that the only viable way of competing would be
with a iPhone like device, and, Android was the
only way for them to get there right away. They
also probably realized that there is no way to
sustain an in-house project that would be any
ways near as good as Android. So, they have come
out swinging, ready to compete on the best
hardware design, and minimal (if any) unique
features on the software side.

But, that is one big stack of chips they are
wagering . . . . . .
