"You have to reveal your invention. The rights
don?t last that long."

They do last too long, frankly. Software
technology changes very fast. Most products are
well beyond the end of their life cycle by the
time a patent expires. Pretty much all of our IP
stuff is way too long for software.

99% of the time a patent accomplishes nothing
but putting another mine in a minefield of
patents that you'll trip over and get sued to
bankruptcy about.

"When people 'pay' for software, what are they
really buying? Support. "

Support and development. Not only the ability to
help with issues, but the ability to debug the
software, develop new features for the software,
and even the ability to create more software in
the future.

Time costs money. And development costs time. At
the end of the day, I want bread on my table.
