If you're talking about corporation scope, where things goes very messy when there is money and power involved. Guess why GPL is still the main force that pushes Free Software? Because it's simple, clear, straight to the point and policed not by companies, but by people.

They are not evil just because they accept a standards proposal from a company you dislike or distrust.

So I need to believe them just because you told me so? Come on.

Get over it. They judge the proposals on their merit. Only in the case of ODF they accepted a sub-standard standard, obviously. There's two sides to this coin.

Didn't you see any of the links about what happened on the ooxml case? Hello! The only merit there was the microsoft interest. Read.

GPL is an ideology. It may be suitable for some projects and products, but it is not the end-all solution. If you believe in the ideology, fine.

Who says it is an ideology and not a licence, you?
